Donald Trump is set to take center stage once again at the Presidents Cup.

The tournament gets underway at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3 in Chicago, Illinois, on September 24.

Trump has accepted an invitation to be Honorary Chairman for the second time having previously taken the honor in 2017 at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey

"We are grateful to President Trump for accepting our invitation to serve as Honorary Chairman for the 2026 Presidents Cup," PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said when announcing the decision.

"The Presidents Cup has a proud tradition of engaging world leaders from across the globe and across political lines, and President Trump’s involvement continues that legacy.

"His participation will help elevate the event on the international stage while furthering our mission of bringing people together through the game of golf."

The last time Trump served in the role, he presented the trophy to the United States and he will likely do the same this year having confirmed his attendance.

Barack Obama is the only other Commander in Chief to serve as chair twice.

“At the request of the PGA Tour, and its Great new Commissioner, Brian Rolapp, it is my Honor to accept being the Honorary Chairman of the upcoming Presidents Cup, which will take place at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago,” Trump posted.

"This will be a particularly exciting event. Both teams are "loaded" with Talent.

"I look forward to being there, and greeting all these fantastic athletes on both teams! Thank you for your attention to this matter. See you in Chicago!"

What is the Presidents Cup?

The Presidents Cup is a team match play competition featuring 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe due to the Ryder Cup.

The biennial event has alternated between the U.S. and international venues since 1996.

Only one International team has triumphed -- 1998 in Melbourne -- and there was a tie in South Africa in 2013.

Medinah becomes the sixth U.S venue to host and Course No. 3 adds to a stellar list of tournaments which includes the BMW Championship, Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and U.S. Senior Open.

In the 2012 Ryder Cup, it produced possibly the most dramatic tournament ever.

Europe entered Sunday's singles down 10-6 and rallied to win 14 1/2-13 1/2 in what became known as the Miracle at Medinah.

Course No. 3 has since undergone a major transformation which was completed in 2024.

Brandt Snedeker is captaining the Americans, with Geoff Ogilvy opposing him.

Australia's Ogilvy will be hoping to channel some of Team Europe's spirit from over a decade ago to pick up the trophy from the President himself.
