Kyler Murray had a nightmarish debut for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as they went up against the Green Bay Packers at US Bank Stadium.
Murray's first pass was intercepted by the Packers. It proved to be a bad omen. Just a few plays later, he suffered a concussion and had to be taken out of the contest. He went 3-of-5 for 18 yards in his first time suiting up for the Vikings. He also had two carries for nine yards.
While there is a clear concern about Murray, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport shared a positive note.
âÂÂHe was spotted in the locker room after the game, according to Kevin O'Connell, in good spirits. That is a good sign,â said Rapoport.
âÂÂBut every player recovers from a concussion differently, and every concussion is different, so we just do not know as of right now how quickly Kyler Murray is going to progress in the NFL's concussion protocol.âÂÂ
Carson Wentz came in for Murray and led the Vikings to the win over the Packers, 39-22. For Rapoport, the 11-year veteran's play âÂÂsparks optimismâ for Minnesota.
âÂÂWentz came out and played so well, so good late, reminded everyone of the talent that he has. I would say for the Vikings, they can take solace in how Wentz played,â added Rapoport.

The 33-year-old Wentz went 12-of-19 for 133 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Minnesota re-signed him to a one-year, $3 million contract as an insurance quarterback and to mentor Murray and JJ McCarthy. He overtook McCarthy for the backup role before the season, and it did not take long for the one-time champion and one-time All-Pro to prove that he can still play.
Wentz started five games for the Vikings last season, throwing for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions before suffering a shoulder injury.
Minnesota will battle the Chicago Bears in Week 2.
