The San Francisco 49ers are still undefeated. However, Deebo Samuel’s latest injury could put a serious dent in their explosive offense. Following San Francisco’s thrilling 32-29 comeback victory over the Seattle Seahawks, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport pointed to some concerning signs surrounding the wide receiver’s injured hamstring. Samuel was ruled out immediately after suffering the injury. That decision raised questions about how long he might be sidelined.

“Judging from the context clues, as we call it… the fact that the 49ers ruled Deebo Samuel out immediately is not a good sign,” Rapoport said on SNY.
He added that while the hope is for a relatively short absence, hamstring injuries can sideline explosive players for several weeks. Samuel is awaiting official MRI results. That means the precise severity and recovery timeline remain uncertain.
Article Continues BelowSamuel’s injury occurred during a difficult sequence along the sideline. That's when he fumbled and landed awkwardly on the football before heading to the locker room. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that he did not yet know the extent of the damage. Still, an extended absence would be another challenge for a receiving group already dealing with injuries. With Christian Kirk working his way back from injured reserve and Ricky Pearsall sidelined, San Francisco could lean more heavily on Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, and Jacob Cowing.
The 49ers enter Week 6 at 5-0. They opened their season with a 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne before surviving Seattle’s late challenge. Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey have helped sustain the offense. Until Samuel’s MRI results arrive, the biggest concern is whether this setback will cost the 49ers one of their most versatile offensive weapons for multiple weeks.
