Very few in baseball history can say that they have had a season like Pete Crow-Armstrong. Undoubtedly, PCA is a shoo-in for NL MVP. Plus, Crow-Armstrong joined the exclusive 40/40 club.

Now, he and the Cubs will take on the surging San Diego Padres in the NL Wild Card series.

Given his bravado, Crow-Armstrong is coming out swinging, focusing on not letting his historic season define him as he aims to claim the ultimate prize, per Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints.

“Nothing really other than I've just done it before, “Crow-Armstrong said. “I think I've got some more to prove and I've got some more production to give this club, but it's a new year… I think I'm fortunate and lucky to have a year of this under my belt already.”

The numbers say plenty. This year, Crow-Armstrong batted .280 with 175 hits, 45 home runs, 107 RBIs, 119 runs scored, and 41 stolen bases. He is well on his way to taking the title recently held by the great Shohei Ohtani.

Meanwhile, the Cubs finished the season at 89-73, 2nd in the NL Central Division behind the Milwaukee Brewers.

They claimed the No.5 seed in the NL Wild Card bracket. However, pitching woes (rotation regression and bullpen concerns) could derail their chances against the Padres, who have won 8 out of their last 10 games.

Last year, the Cubs defeated the Padres in the Wild Card series before losing to the Brewers in the Division Series.

The Cubs and Padres will play Game 1 at San Diego on Tuesday at 7:00 pm PST/9:00 pm CST/10:00 pm EST.
