Klay Thompson is back in the Bay Area, and the Miami Heat sharpshooter looks locked in ahead of Thursday night’s showdown with the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.
The NBA shared a clip of Thompson arriving at the arena, headphones on and wearing a calm, focused expression as he made his way inside. The timing could not be better for Miami, as Thompson is coming off one of his best performances in years.

Thompson erupted for 30 points in Wednesday’s 117-116 overtime win over the LA Clippers, knocking down eight 3-pointers on 17 attempts. He also capped the night with a go-ahead triple with one second left in the extra period, lifting the Heat to a thrilling road victory. It was his first 30-point game since April 2024, back when he was still suiting up for the Warriors.
Afterward, Thompson admitted he savored the moment. “I can’t lie to you. It felt really good,” Thompson said.
Next up, he heads back to the place where he made his name. Thompson won four NBA championships with Golden State alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green before leaving for the Dallas Mavericks in 2024. After two seasons in Dallas, he reached a buyout agreement with the Mavericks in August and signed a two-year deal with Miami.
Green even came to his former teammate’s defense shortly after the move, urging people not to expect the Thompson of old.
“Don’t try to set my brother up like you getting the 2018 version so when you don’t, you can bash him,” Green said on “The Draymond Green Show.”
Article Continues BelowNow playing in the Eastern Conference for the first time in his career, Thompson has teamed up with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in South Beach. He is also reunited in Miami with former Warriors teammate Andrew Wiggins.
The Heat will have to dig deep to pull off another win, though. Thursday’s game is the second night of a back-to-back, and Miami enters at 3-5 on the season, while the Warriors sit at 5-3. Golden State also has rookie Yaxel Lendeborg off to a hot start.
If Wednesday was any indication, Thompson could be ready for another big night against his old team.
