The Clark Atlanta University community is mourning the loss of one of its own following the death of senior Morgan Gamble, whose life was tragically cut short in a car crash.
According to reports, Gamble was struck by a vehicle traveling 95 mph in a 35 mph zone, nearly three times the posted speed limit. The crash has left the Clark Atlanta community grieving the loss of a student who was already making strides toward a career in the entertainment industry.
Affectionately known by her family as the “producer,” Gamble was a mass media major at Clark Atlanta University who had already begun gaining hands-on experience in television production. She worked as a student assistant on Netflix's A Different World sequel and also appeared as a background performer in the series' pilot episode.
Her death has left a void not only within the Clark Atlanta community but also among those who worked alongside her on A Different World.
Following news of Gamble's passing, series creator and executive producer Felicia Pride took to Instagram to share her condolences and reflect on Gamble's involvement with the production.
“So very sorry and sad to hear about the passing of Morgan Gamble, who, in addition to being a superstar student at Clark Atlanta, was also a background performer on A DIFFERENT WORLD. We were grateful to have her be a part,” Pride wrote.
“Sending all of her loved ones and the CAU community love, light, and prayers. 🤎”
Gamble's passion for producing was something she had carried with her from an early age. Her mother, Brandi Gamble, told WSB-TV that her daughter had always known what she wanted to do professionally. She also shared that Gamble's father encouraged her to pursue a career in film.
“She knew what she wanted from day one. I think coming out of the womb. She wanted to produce, and she did it,” Brandi told WSB-TV.
As Gamble's loved ones remember her ambition and accomplishments, legal proceedings surrounding the crash are underway.
NikolaiDunford has been charged with speeding, reckless driving, and first-degree homicide by vehicle in connection with Gamble's death. According to the arrest warrant, investigators obtained data from Dunford's vehicle that provided information about the crash. Dunford was reported to be in custody at the Fulton County Jail..
