Florida football has been exposed over the last two weeks, losing much of the trust it finally won back. A decisive victory over Ole Miss does not have nearly as much cachet following back-to-back blowout losses to Missouri and South Carolina, the latter of which stunningly took place in The Swamp. The squad's early Playoff prospects have rapidly diminished, especially given what lies ahead, but all the Gators can do now is focus on Texas. Unfortunately, the Aaron Philo injury situation is forcing head coach Jon Sumrall to install a backup plan.

The starting quarterback, who transferred from Georgia Tech, is dealing with a shoulder injury and is questionable for Saturday's showdown in Austin, per On3's Pete Nakos. Wide receivers Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton join Philo in being game-time decisions versus the No. 7 Longhorns, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Although Philo threw during Thursday's practice, Tramell Jones Jr. is getting ready to compete just in case the former is ruled out. It would be the redshirt freshman's first career college start, a potentially daunting scenario in the face of a ferocious Texas defense. Whoever is taking snaps at QB must be composed, because the home team is going to be in an unpleasant mood following last Saturday's Red River Rivalry loss to Oklahoma.

Though, the Gators should be plenty mad themselves. They failed to protect Ben Hill Griffin Stadium against a South Carolina squad that was bogged down in uncertainty entering the matchup. Jon Sumrall has not fixed all of the program's problems just yet.

Aaron Philo is aiming to reignite Florida football with a strong outing in The Lone Star State. He has completed an outstanding 70.5 percent of his passes for 1,341 yards and nine touchdowns, while rushing for 104 yards and another three scores. Sumrall will monitor his status and make a decision before the noon kickoff.
