A fellow HBCU coach threw shade at Marshall Faulk and Southern for being scheduled as their homecoming opponent. HBCU coaches and players aren't fans of being scheduled as a homecoming opponent, as we've seen in recent years. Add University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff head coach Alonzo Hampton to that number, as he took to the SWAC coaches' call to say he and his team felt slighted by being Southern University's homecoming opponent this weekend.

Marshall Faulk didn't take Hampton's comments lightly and responded in a follow-up interview with Brandon Fairburn of LA First News.

“I was on the Coaches Call yesterday,” Faulk said. “You know, Lonzo…'Oh my God, they can't believe they chose us for homecoming.' Look, man, if you need this to get up, get your team up, then so be it. We're up. I'm up every game. We're going to be up whether we're homecoming or not. I don't give a care.”

He then pointed out that the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a SWAC West opponent and that the game has to be played. He also absolved himself of any influence over the decision.

“This game has to be played. It just happened to be on homecoming. If AD Banks scheduled him for homecoming because he felt like that, then that's between his AD and our AD, because I'll never…I played the game. I'll never disrespect the team and say, ‘Oh, this is the game I want for homecoming.' Not me. Those things are said by people who didn't play the game or don't play the game.”
