Amid conversations about HBCU football teams participating in money games, Prairie View A&M head coach Tremaine Jackson gave a dynamic answer. On Monday's SWAC coaches' call, Jackson was asked about money games. Jackson didn't hold back.

“We should be tired of, ‘Oh, why I gotta go?' It is what it is, and it costs what it costs,” He said defiantly regarding HBCU participation in the games.

But he made his position clear that he wasn't a fan of money games but understand it's the reality that HBCUs must face for survival.

“And so because that's the way that we think about things over here, I don't agree. Let me say that. I don't agree that we should play those people. And the reason why I don't agree that we should play those people is because our fundraising efforts, our alums, our people that g- that talk about these things on media boards and, and Instagram, they don't donate the money that those schools donate. I think we can, but we don't value college football the same way those people do. It's evident. We value classics and homecoming. And so since we, that's all we value, then we should not play those games.”

He then confirms that more HBCU money games are on the horizon for Prairie View A&M, as they are set to play the University of Houston and Arizona within the next couple of years. While he isn't a fan of HBCU teams playing money games, he wants to set a good example for his young men to face adversity.

“Tremaine Jackson didn't do that, but Tremaine Jackson is not gonna teach a group of young men to woe is me into life. ‘Oh, well, it's, it's just what we gotta do.' Nah, man. When we wake up in the morning, we should expect to win. And since that's how we're built over here, then I don't know any other way.”
