Guardians leapfrog White Sox in AL Central for first time in over 2 months thanks to unsung hero

The Cleveland Guardians are in first place in the American League Central for the first time since July 3 following their 6-3 win on Wednesday over the Chicago White Sox. Cleveland trailed 3-2 in the 6th inning, but Petey Halpin gave Cleveland a 5-3 lead with a three-run home run. The homer represented Halpin's third hit of the season against left-handed pitching.

The White Sox do hold the tiebreaker with the Guardians and they have one more game to play than Cleveland does the rest of the way, so the division is far from decided. Still, the Guards are in first place as of this story's writing.
