Jose Ramirez experienced a rough 2026 regular season and has not had much success in the playoffs during his stellar MLB career, but the Cleveland Guardians were just waiting for their franchise centerpiece to explode versus the Chicago White Sox in the American League Division Series. He did just that in a must-win Game 3 on Tuesday, and then he did the same in a must-win Game 4 on Wednesday.
Ramirez is one of the biggest reasons why Progressive Field will play host to a decisive Game 5 on Saturday night. He enjoyed a historic trip to The Windy City.
A little more than 24 hours after notching a double and triple in a 9-3 win, the six-time Silver Slugger and seven-time All-Star third baseman smashed a two-run go-ahead home run and drove in another run via an infield single in a 9-5 victory. Ramirez joins Stephen Drew (2007), Paul Molitor (1993), Rickey Henderson (1989) and Lou Brock (1968) as the only players to hit for a cycle in a two-game postseason span, per Sarah Langs.
