On Sunday evening, the New York Giants started out their 2026 season with a bang by defeating the Dallas Cowboys at home in relatively comfortable fashion. The Giants led this game for much of the evening, with the team picking apart the Cowboys' supposedly revamped defense at will.

This game marked the Giants debut of new head coach John Harbaugh, who joined the team after being fired by the Baltimore Ravens after last season.

In the wake of the Week 1 win, oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag seem to have full confidence in Harbaugh, as he is now listed as the favorite to win this year's Coach of the Year award, with 18-1 odds.

Behind Harbaugh is, ironically, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, followed by Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson.

The Giants sure looked impressive on Sunday in dismantling a Cowboys team that many view as legit championship contenders heading into this season. It remains to be seen whether the Cowboys' defense is truly revamped, which would make the Giants' win even more impressive, or if it's just as dismal as it was last season, which would take some of the shine away.

Of course, New York picked up some big wins early in the season last year as well, including a memorable primetime home victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, but those good vibes fizzled out quickly, and the team ended up parting ways with head coach Brian Daboll in November.

Harbaugh is likely to have a considerably longer leash as he gets his run with the team underway.

The Giants will now gear up for an even tougher test on Monday evening against the Los Angeles Rams on the road.
