John Harbaugh understands there is frustration within the New York Giants' running back room. However, he wants someone to come out of the fray and shine as the top rusher.

Harbaugh is going through his first year at the helm for the Giants following a long stint with the Baltimore Ravens. He looks to lead New York back to serious playoff contention, having won three of their first six games.

However, the latest loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday saw stunning numbers in the run game. Cam Skattebo, who started the year as the lead back, got no carries for the entire day. Devin Singletary had four carries, Tyrone Tracy Jr. attempted six rushes, while Najee Harris ran the ball four times.

Harbaugh spoke with media on Monday, per reporter Jordan Raanan. He acknowledges the noise in the running back room, emphasizing the need for them to maximize their chances to be the top rusher in the group.

“John Harbaugh says he knows and understands how Najee Harris and the RBs feel about the 4-man rotation. They all want to be the No. 1 guy. But Harbaugh says he also knows that carries are “earned” and tells them “do something” in their opportunities and more will come,” Raanan wrote.
