The New York Giants find themselves needing cornerback help despite beating the Dallas Cowboys. New York sustained three notable injuries there. Now new head coach John Harbaugh addressed the early NFL Injury scare via the Los Angeles Chargers and landing Nikko Reed.

Giants insider for ESPN Jordan Raanan plus Chargers insider Khris Rhim of the same outlet helped confirm the move Thursday, as NYG lures in a preseason star from the Bolts.

“Reed lands on the Giants active roster with them short on healthy cornerbacks. Paulson Adebo didn't practice Thursday. Deonte Banks and Greg Newsome were limited,” Raanan posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Reed first turned heads in the 2025 preseason, turning in a 60-yard pick six during the Hall of Fame game. He sustained a hamstring injury in January, though, before the playoffs.

Harbaugh and the Giants gain a 5-foot-10 cornerback equipped with 4.46 speed in the 40-yard dash. That element becomes greatly needed for what lies ahead next for the NFC East franchise.

New York will face a more focused Los Angeles Rams team on the road. LA absorbed a disappointing 27-7 loss down in Melbourne, Australia to the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams even looked fatigued amid the long distance travel. San Francisco also disrupted the highly-anticipated Rams debut of edge rusher Myles Garrett.

So Garrett becomes nothing to worry about this week for Harbaugh, since he underwent immediate knee surgery. But Reed likely becomes needed for the likes of Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and the re-added Tutu Atwell on the Rams' side. LA aims to reignite its vaunted offense against a Giants team envisioning a 2-0 start.
