Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams made franchise postseason history Monday in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Chicago White Sox. Williams became the first Cleveland pitcher with at least 10 strikeouts in a playoff game since Bartolo Colon accomplished the feat in 2001.
The milestone came as the Guardians attempt to even the best-of-five series after the White Sox took Saturday’s opener 3-0 at Progressive Field.
MLB Network’s Jon Morosi took to X, formerly Twitter, from Progressive Field to highlight the milestone after a press-box announcement recognized Williams’ historic outing.
