Last week on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, Gable Steveson faced off against Sean Sharaf. However, their match finished even before it properly began. Competing in his second-ever UFC fight, Steveson suffered a humiliating loss against Sharaf.

Sharaf knocked out Steveson with a left-handed shot just 12 seconds into the first round. It marked Steveson’s first loss in professional MMA, with his record now standing at 4-1. Before this loss, Steveson had won his first three fights against Braden Peterson, Kevin Hein, Hugo Lezama, and Elisha Ellison.

Sharaf entered the octagon with 0-2 record but has now recovered from it. He immediately went after Steveson and knocked him out with the second punch he threw. He followed it up with a left hook to Steveson's chin, earning himself a $100,000 knockout bonus from Dana White.

Steveson is a combat sports veteran, and it marked his first MMA defeat. Steveson is a 2020 U.S. Olympic wrestling gold medalist and two-time NCAA Division I national champion, and a former WWE Superstar.

Moments after Steveson's UFC 331 loss, Dana White opened up and addressed the sport's unpredictability and the former WWE star's loss. “Anything is possible, man,” White said at the post-fight news conference. “Anything is possible when two guys get in there and start fighting. You never know how fights are (going to go). That's why when people always ask me, ‘Oh, what do you think? Is this guy going to fight this guy after Saturday?' Let's see what happens on Saturday. I don't know. I don't know what the fight is going to look like. It's like when people say, ‘Oh, this card sucks.' The f*cking card hasn't happened yet. What do you mean it sucks?
