Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni received plenty of blame after dropping a 19-17 road game to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5. The Eagles' running back room is in shambles and the offense, led by Sirianni and offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, has sputtered, drawing the attention of former star cornerback Asante Samuel.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts attempted to pick up the slack, piling up 220 passing yards, but couldn't get the win. Samuel was furious with the Eagles' coaching leadership afterward. Sirianni admitted he cost his team the game with a mistake on the Eagles' final kickoff that was kept in the field of play and wasn't kicked through the end zone for a touchback.

“Jalen Hurts showed us what it takes to be a great quarterback, despite all the injuries. Nick Sirianni and Sean Mannion they called a pretty conservative game, and I don't know why,” Samuel said, lamenting the lack of explosive plays.

“The Eagles have to fight and win these games when it comes down to the end of the game. There isn't much, man, the good brother Jalen Hurts could have done. All coach had to do was call a squib kick. Nick Sirianni must have had a lapse in his brain or something…I know he's taking the blame, it's probably the special teams' coach's fault, but whoever's fault it is…You can't make mistakes like this in a game that's pretty much won.”

Good news accompanied the turning of the calendar to October 12 as the Eagles got positive Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith injury updates. Sirianni's team's loss to the Jaguars still stings, but hope springs anew as the Eagles continue onward.
