The 25th anniversary of the launch of PFT happens on Sunday, November 1. And for those of you who have been here since the early days of the site’s existence, I’ve made you something.

I’ve completely re-written Quarterback of the Future, the long-forgotten football/sci-fi novel that helped lead me into this business in the first place.

I won’t bore you with the details of how it all happened here. (I’ll bore you with the details of how it all happened here, in the official introduction to the book I’ll post one chapter at a time free of charge.)

Also, here’s the landing page for the various chapters. The plan is to post one per day. (They’re relatively short.) Depending on the response, my mood at any given moment, and whether time permits, I may accelerate the process.

Regardless, it’s a brand-new version of a solid story that was, frankly, not very well written. After years of writing thousands of words per day (and writing eight or nine novels — I’ve lost try — along with Playmakers), the second try is better.

As I’m reminded whenever I flip through a copy of the original QBF, it can’t be much worse.

Take it for whatever it is. It should be fun. It should be enjoyable. Each chapter should make you interested in reading the next one.

Give it a try. Chapter One arrives Sunday, the official 25th anniversary of the moment we first went live.
