Florida Gators football legend Tim Tebow strongly rejected Chase Daniel's comparison between the Gators and Vanderbilt ahead of Saturday night's SEC opener against Auburn.

The exchange came during SEC Nation at Auburn, where Florida and the Tigers entered the matchup 2-0 under first-year head coaches Jon Sumrall and Alex Golesh. Daniel pointed to Vanderbilt's recent rise while discussing the direction of the Gators' program.

The SEC Network took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing Daniel's comparison and Tebow's immediate reaction from the set. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner took exception to the suggestion that Florida could follow a similar path to the Commodores.

“I do think that Florida could be the next Vandy.”

Tebow immediately pushed back on his fellow former quarterback's comparison:

“You can't say that. That is the most derogatory thing I've ever heard in my life.”
