Ahead of the Week 2 matchup for the Atlanta Falcons against the Carolina Panthers, the fanbase has been wondering who would start at quarterback with the room continuing to experience injuries. As there was chatter about the potential return of Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr., it appears he'll have to wait to start as Cooper Rush is expected to take snaps under center once again.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Penix is “not quite ready” yet, leaning toward Rush taking first-team reps and being expected to “start Week 2.”

“Falcons QB Cooper Rush is taking the first-team reps now and is expected to start Week 2, sources say. No surprise, with Michael Penix Jr. not quite ready,” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
