Since retiring from the NBA, former Golden State Warriors star Baron Davis has dipped his toe into acting, appearing in comedies like Joy Ride and The Night Before. He returns to the court in a new basketball movie, Last Shot.
He stars in the movie alongside the likes of Jaime Pressly, Michael Rapaport, Johnny Simmons, and Dylan Friedman. Last Shot was directed by Andy Palmer and written by Todd Friedman.
ClutchPoints is excited to present an exclusive clip from the movie. In it, Davis, who plays a basketball coach, speaks to the young players. He is hard on them, expecting them to remember the daily drills, schedule, and quote.
“Every afternoon, there will be a schedule and a quote,” he tells the kids. “It is expected of you to be prepared, to look at the drills, and go through them in order and to remember the quote of the day.”
Davis then makes the kids run suicides on the court. It is hard work, but his ultimate mission is to make the team into “Frankenstein.” As he put it, “We got to be on Frankenstein together. We got to go craft this monster.”
During his NBA career, Davis played for six teams: the Charlotte Hornets, the former New Orleans Hornets (now the Pelicans), the Warriors, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the New York Knicks. He made two NBA All-Star teams while with the Hornets.
