Earlier this year, former AEW and WWE wrestler Jake Hager, popularly known as Jack Swagger, signed up with Dana White's Power Slap. For those who don't know, Power Slap is co-owned by Zuffa, LLC founder Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White.

After signing up for the promotion, Hager, 44, has competed in three fights, of which he has won one. He won his debut fight against Devin Jenkins, but suffered a loss to Amanpreet Singh in his second fight. He recently faced Johnny Magna (an independent pro wrestler for NWA New Mexico) in Lubbock, Texas, and suffered another brutal loss. Hager not only lost to Magna, but also suffered a concerning eye injury that required surgery.

Magna’s hard slap left Hager bleeding from his face and eye. Despite Hager arguing that he was struck in the eye and the slap should have been called a foul, the fight was allowed to continue. The official result declared Magna the winner by referee stoppage [TKO].

Later, Patricia Blackburn, Hager's partner, shared an update on Hager. She said Hager is recovering from emergency eye surgery (via Slap News). “Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you've shown Jake during this difficult time. Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We're taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know. Thank you for being there for Jake. We're so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.”

UFC Boss Dana White gets real on Jake Hager's eye injury

Later, after Hager's loss to Magna, UFC and Power Slap boss Dana White opened up about Hager's match and it's after effect. White called the injury the “worst injury in Power Slap or UFC history.” He also described it as gruesome and refused to let the production team air a replay.
