Former Hall of Fame NBA guard and former Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd announced his new job — he'll be joining ESPN as an analyst for the 2026-27 season. After Kidd parted ways with the Mavericks last season, his position at the four-lettered network will be as an in-studio analyst.

Some speculated Kidd was headed to ESPN earlier in the preseason. Now, it's official, as Kidd confirmed the news that he's joining ESPN on his X, formerly Twitter.

“Excited to join ESPN for the 2026–27 season!” Kidd stated. “Looking forward to working with some amazing colleagues and legends of the game, and providing my perspective in the studio for NBA on ESPN Countdown!”

Jason Kidd, who was a 10-time All-Star during his NBA career, led the Mavericks to a championship over LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the Miami Heat in the 2011 Finals. Kidd also earned Rookie of the Year in 1995, named to nine All-Defensive Teams, is a five-time assist champion, and was recognized as one of the NBA's top 75 players, before transitioning to coaching.

After coaching the Brooklyn Nets during the 2013-14 season, he spent the first four seasons of All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo's career guiding the Milwaukee Bucks before landing a head coaching job for the Mavericks. Kidd led Luka Doncic and the Mavs to their last Finals appearance in 2024.

His impressive resume brings a unique perspective after spending two decades in the association as a player and a coach. Kidd has been added to ESPN's NBA Countdown broadcast crew alongside Malika Andrews, Kendrick Perkins, Brian Windhorst, and senior NBA insider Shams Charania.
