Edu has been named as part of a new board of directors at Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia.
The former Arsenal sporting director officially left his role as head of global football at Nottingham Forest last week.
He had held the position for just over a year, but in March, he was banished from the club by owner Evangelos Marinakis.
talkSPORT reported that Edu was facing a fight to save his job, with Marinakis underwhelmed with his impact.
And his exit, which was a long time coming, was confirmed on September 7, with the Brazilian departing Forest.
Edu's role also included working with Greek club Olympiakos and Portuguese outfit Rio Ave. Both of those clubs are also owned by Marinakis.

But now, just days after leaving his position, the 48-year-old has started a new job at an unexpected club.
He has joined the board of directors at Levski Sofia, who won the league title in Bulgaria last season.
His specific job title is yet to be revealed, but he was announced by the club to have joined alongside four others.
Daniel Borimirov, Claudio Prakownik, Felipe Berliner and Matthew Cherry have also been named on the board.
Edu could potentially become chairman or an executive director though, with elections being held imminently.
In their announcement, Levski Sofia wrote: "His experience in sports strategy, selection, talent development and organisational building will be an important asset for the club on its path to a sustainable and competitive football structure."
Edu's next step
Edu started his directorial career in 2011, having had success on the pitch for Arsenal, being one of Arsene Wenger's 'Invincibles'.
He played 79 times in total for the Gunners, playing for Corinthians and Valencia too, also earning 16 caps for Brazil.
His first post-playing career role was with his old club in Brazil Corinthians, as he became their director of football 15 years ago.
Edu went on to work for Iran and Brazil before joining Arsenal in a brand new role in 2019.
He became their technical director and then their sporting director before leaving in 2024 and eventually joining Nottingham Forest.
That didn't work out though, and now he's become part of Levski Sofia's board in a surprise move.
Levski Sofia ended Ludogorets' domination in Bulgaria last season, winning the league to stop their rivals' 14-straight titles.
