The Chicago Bears will host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 3. They’re coming off a brutal loss to the Minnesota Vikings in their 2026 home debut. The Eagles are currently 2-0, but they’ve had some uninspiring wins against the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans.
Both teams are going to want to run the ball as long as possible in this game. It’ll keep the clock moving, specifically if they’re able to sustain long drives. Overall, I’m expecting that to limit possessions a bit, giving them fewer chances to score.
Caleb Williams was injured in Week 3, and Tyson Bagent took over for him. The latter suffered a concussion in that game, though, so he didn’t practice until Saturday of this week. Due to Bagent’s lack of practice this week, the Bears are actually tapping third-string veteran quarterback Case Keenum for this matchup
The Bears are already running the ball at the seventh-highest rate (50%) in the NFL this season. They’re going to feature D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai heavily to make life easier on Keenum as they try to stay ahead of the chains.
On the other side, the Eagles rank 17th in run-play percentage (45.6%) this season. That’s down drastically after ranking near the top of the NFL for several seasons. I believe this is more of a product of a limited sample, including having to come back against Tennessee, rather than a complete change in philosophy.
Inside Monday Night Football Week 3's Best Bet Pick
Philadelphia is still a run-heavy offense behind Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley. The latter is healthy and expected to play after missing most of their game against the Titans. That should make it easier for the Eagles to run the ball, specifically if they get a lead in this game.
It’s important to note that Philadelphia is dealing with some key injuries, though. Dallas Goedert has already been ruled out, and he’s been a major part of their offense. Hollywood Brown doesn’t have as big a role, but he’ll also miss this game.
Ultimately, I’m expecting the Bears to play a safe game with uncertainty at quarterback, featuring their RBs heavily. The Eagles should oblige with the same strategy, limiting overall possessions for both teams.
