As the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Washington Commanders for Week 8 on Sunday night, the team is filled to the brim with injuries, especially with key stars on the offensive side of the ball. With the Week 8 availability of some Eagles stars up in the air, the latest updates on running back Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith are no doubt a mixed bag.

According to Tim McManus, Barkley is back at practice on Friday as he's been dealing with what's listed as hamstring and back injuries, but the same can't be said for Smith. As noted by Mike Garafolo, Smith is “still sidelined” as he deals with a nagging hamstring injury.

“Last practice of the week for the Eagles, and Saquon Barkley makes an appearance. Devonta Smith still sidelined,” Garafolo wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

With another likely missed practice for Smith, it is easy to assume that he will miss another game for Philadelphia, which would be his fourth of the season as he last played on Oct. 18 in the 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers. So far this season for the Eagles, Smith has recorded 26 catches for 310 yards and two touchdowns in four games.

As for Barkley, he's missed two games with a hamstring injury, returning last Monday night to the 38-21 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. So far this season, he has rushed for 244 yards and one touchdown to go along with six catches for 17 yards, as he was asked Friday if he believes that he will be playing on Sunday against the Commanders.

“I would hope so,” Barkley said, according to Jimmy Kempski.

It remains to be seen what the statuses of Barkley and Smith look like as Philadelphia looks to snap a five-game skid on Sunday night.
