Have the Philadelphia Eagles already hit rock bottom this early in the season? Philly came to their game against Chicago expecting an easy rout. Chicago's quarterback for the game was Case Keenum, the 38-year-old veteran who hasn't played a game since 2023. This should have been an easy win for a Philly team looking to make a statement win.
Instead, Philadelphia was humiliated by the upstart Chicago team. Keenum completed 70% of his passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears torched the Eagles 27-7. For a supposed Super Bowl contender, this is no way to perform in a game you were clearly favored to win. Head coach Nick Sirianni, who's in the hot seat after this rough start, caught the attention of fans with what he did after the game, waiting for all of his players to get off the field first.
This was an unprecedented game for the Eagles in a lot of ways. As John Clark noted in his post above, this is the first time in three years that Philly has lost a game by more than twenty points. To think that it would come against a team that was without both their QB1 and QB2 is brutal and deserves a lot of attention.
It was a complete failure on both offense and defense for the Eagles. The Bears jumped out to a 10-point lead early in the game and never looked back, with Keenum's arm being the cannon that propelled the team forward. In response, Philly's offense only mustered a Tush Push touchdown for Jalen Hurts, struggling to generate any meaningful offense. Their inability to put points on the board affected their defense as well, as they barely had any rest before getting back on the field.
It's a crushing loss for the Eagles, who definitely have to go over a lot of things before Week 4, before their season spirals out of control. Next up is a game against the Los Angeles Rams at home on Sunday.
