The Philadelphia Eagles have been without their franchise quarterback for some time now as he deals with blood clots, but they were finally able to see him after he made an appearance at the facility, according to ESPN's Tim McManus.
“Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts made an appearance Wednesday at the team's practice facility, marking the first time some players had seen him since he was put on injured reserve because of blood clots in his lungs, team sources said,” McManus wrote. “Hurts sat in on the team meeting as well as additional meetings. He did not address the team but his presence did provide a morale boost for some, a source said.”
Hurts is set to miss the rest of the season due to the blood clots, as they originally found them in his calf when they played the Jacksonville Jaguars. They then traveled to his lungs, which forced the team to put him on IR.
Head coach Nick Sirianni was recently asked if he had seen the quarterback.
“I've talked to him and am in constant communication with him and know he's resting and recovering,” Sirianni said. “I miss him like crazy. But nothing new on that front. I know he's resting and recovering, and we're all still praying for him and hoping for a speedy recovery.”
With Hurts sidelined, Tanner McKee has been the starting quarterback, but he's only thrown two touchdowns and two interceptions, and they haven't won a game. The Eagles are now turning to Joe Milton III as the starter for their game against the New York Giants, and the hope is that he can get them in the win column.
The Eagles have dealt with injuries to their key players all season, with Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith missing time throughout the year.
