We’re headed back to Great American Ball Park for the second consecutive day, as the Los Angeles Dodgers (91-59) and Cincinnati Reds (70-80) meet Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. ET.

In Monday’s game, Los Angeles picked up a 4-1 victory as heavy favorites in a game which featured a battle of southpaws. LHP Tarik Skubal and LHP Nick Lodolo each went deep into the game, with the latter providing a surprise performance.

The Dodgers were actually limited to just three hits, but two of the hits left the yard, including a two-run homer by left fielder Teoscar Hernandez. The Reds were held to just four hits, with shortstop Elly De La Cruz belting a solo homer, his 27th of the season.

Cincinnati has been mathematically eliminated from the postseason hunt, and it slipped to 12-16 against the National League West with Monday’s loss. The Reds slipped to 36-39 at GABP, and they now have a dismal minus-148 run differential, which is the second-worst in the National League, and the third-worst in the majors behind only the Colorado Rockies (minus-170) and A’s (minus-203).

 

Los Angeles has clinched a spot in the postseason already, and it has a nine-game cushion on the San Diego Padres with 12 games remaining in the regular season. The Dodgers are on the verge of winning the National League West Division again, and they could very well leave town with the crown on Wednesday.

The Reds have allowed 54 runs in the past five games, or 9.8 runs per game (RPG) in the span. That includes a 14-1 loss in Los Angeles the last time Tuesday’s starter, RHP Rhett Lowder (6-10, 5.81 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) faced the Dodgers.

For the Dodgers, they’ll roll with RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (13-8, 2.62 ERA, 0.88 WHIP) for the second straight outing against the Reds. He allowed just a single run on a solo homer, three total hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts across seven innings in the 14-1 victory. Yamamoto has lasted at least six innings in five straight starts, and 14 of his past 15 outings.

As such, we’re going to go with YAMAMOTO OVER 18.5 OUTS RECORDED (+132) at plus-money. He should be extremely hard on the Reds, and at plus-money he’s a great value. He has eight or more strikeouts in each of his past five outings, too, so let’s take OVER 7.5 STRIKEOUTS (-111).

If you’re not into props, let’s take a look at the DODGERS -1.5 (-142) to get it done on the run line for a second consecutive outing, but we’ll stay away from the total here, although OVER 8.5 (-122) would be the lean if you are looking for another leg for a parlay.
