The Los Angeles Dodgers' 2026 MLB postseason journey will officially begin on Saturday for Game 1 of their NLDS clash against the Atlanta Braves. Their goal this October is to win three consecutive World Series titles and become just the third team in MLB history to do so, joining the New York Yankees (who've accomplished this feat thrice) and the Oakland Athletics in this exclusive club.
One would think that some sort of fatigue is seeping in for this Dodgers team. They've encountered a ton of adversity in their World Series runs, and they most notably came to their final two outs in the 2025 World Series — only for Miguel Rojas to hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays which set up their win in extras.
However, for Mookie Betts, he is not taking this opportunity to compete for a third-consecutive World Series title for granted. After all, when he won his third World Series in 2024, he did not have any idea that they would go on to be in a position to win three straight.
“You dream of winning one and once you win one, it's like, realistically, the chances of winning again are very very slim. So, being able to, we've got a good group of guys that we've been able to put together a few of them, so it's a blessing,” Betts told Jim Hill of Sports Central LA.

There is so much variance in postseason baseball that this feat for the Dodgers is quite remarkable. While many would scoff at them considering that they've stacked the team, and therefore, their odds to win a World Series title, they still had to earn their way to the top by playing good baseball when it mattered.
Betts himself is gunning for his fifth World Series title, having won one with the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and one with the Dodgers in 2020 before their consecutive Fall Classic victories over the past two seasons.
