At 3-2, the Denver Broncos are tied with the Las Vegas Raiders for second in the AFC West. Both teams are a game and a half behind the Kansas City Chiefs, who are undefeated at 4-0. While the Chiefs come off an early bye, the Broncos and Raiders both face difficult matchups against the Seahawks and Bills, respectively. Ahead of their Thursday Night Football tilt against Seattle, NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky broke down why Denver quarterback Bo Nix has struggled so far this season. Orlovsky shared his analysis via X, formerly Twitter.
“I think the significant regression right now with Bo Nix is very process-driven in regards to completely derailing timing and rhythm,” Orlovsky broke down on Tuesday evening.
Nix is completing just under 60 percent of his passes, a career low. The former first-round pick has thrown for only 942 yards and six touchdowns, to go with three interceptions. He's thrown for over 250 yards only once this season, in the Broncos' Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's coming off his lowest passing yardage mark of the season, only gaining 123 yards through the air in a 23-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, a division rival.
If the Broncos hope to get back to the top of the AFC West, they need Nix to improve upon his form from last year. In his sophomore campaign, Nix led Denver to the AFC's top seed, plus an AFC Championship Game berth. A broken ankle at the end of their AFC Divisional matchup win over the Buffalo Bills ended Nix's season. Now, it feels like he's out of sync. If he can't get back on track, then the Broncos might not reach the heights of last fall.
