Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, and the Portland Trail Blazers took their undefeated record into Los Angeles to take on Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and the LA Lakers in what turned out to be one of the best games of the season thus far.
It was ultimately the Blazers and their playmakers that stole the show in crunch time led by Lillard's 10 fourth quarter points, including a classic ‘Dame Time' shot to put the Blazers up six with 42.8 seconds remaining.
After the stepback shot went in, sending Lakers fans for the exits, Lillard celebrated with Deni Avdija at center court as his teammates approached him.
“It felt great,” Lillard said of his first Dame Time moment of the season. “I think over the course of the game, I didn't shoot the ball well. I missed more free throws than usual. I do that every couple games every year, but the game was close and I know it was going to come to a point where we had to make shots and make plays to win the game.
“I just live for those opportunities. Especially knowing i didn't shoot the ball well,I just love the opportunity to still be able to do it and I know it will present itself with Ja, with Deni putting pressure on the paint. They had to help, so it was just a matter of me finding those pockets and waiting up and shooting.”

While Lillard was celebrating at half-court, teammate Ja Morant tapped his wrist and yelled Dame Time while looking at the Lakers courtside seats along the sideline on the way to the team's bench.

TO have a guy like this on this sie is pretty much pick your fighter or pick your poison… I don't think it's too many celebrations you can put up there with this one.”
Ja Morant and Deni Avdija led the way for the Portland Trail Blazers with 23 points apiece whiel Avdija nearly double-doubled with nine assists. Jrue Holiday added 22 points off the bench and Damian Lillard scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter.
The Blazers now return home for a Thursday evening contest the Memphis Grizzlies at 7PM PST
