The Dallas Cowboys had a “meaningful discussion” and came to an agreement with the newly formed Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders union.
According to The Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Association (DCCA) has been recognized by the Cowboys as “the collective bargaining representative for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” according to the press release.
The union follows years of the DCC speaking out about disparity in pay despite being one of the top dance squads worldwide. The DCC has been a focal point in the Netflix series America's Sweethearts for the last three seasons, where the cheerleaders have brought up the topic on several occasions. In season one, DCC star Kat Puryear compared her DCC yearly salary to a full-time Chick-fil-A worker or a substitute teacher. In season two, the discussions continued, which later resulted in the team announcing that they would be receiving a 400% raise in the season two finale.
In 2010, the Cowboys were the defendants in a fair-wage lawsuit filed by Erica Wilkins, who was a three-year veteran on the squad. She claimed that she made $16,000 in her highest-earning year with the team.
America's Sweethearts will be back on the streamer for season four as announced back in August.
“Each new season is another opportunity to showcase the extraordinary talent, dedication and individuality of our team,” Kelli Finglass said in a release at the time. “We're proud to continue to share their stories and artistry with audiences, inspiring the next generation of young performers all over the world to dream big and pursue their passions.”

In the meantime, the first three seasons of America's Sweethearts are available to stream on Netflix now.
