Over the weekend, Dak Prescott made history by becoming the Dallas Cowboys' all-time pass touchdown leader. The moment came when Prescott threw a TD pass to CeeDee Lamb on 3rd and 7 in the 4th quarter of a 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders.
Afterward, Prescott was sentimental, describing the moment and recalling his late mother, Peggy, per Inside the NFL. In November 2013, Peggy passed away at the age of 52 after a battle with colon cancer.
When Prescott broke the record, he was thinking about her.
“I woke up this morning a little emotional, way more emotional than normal,” Prescott said. “I don't know if it had a part in it. God knew it was going to happen today, and I was going to break this record. I just felt my mom. My mom was never short or hesitant to tell me how proud she was of me. She was never, never, never short of that. I could just hear that. That's enough.”

At the time of Peggy's passing, Prescott was playing at Mississippi State. He then mustered up the will to go out and play days afterward.
In 2016, the Cowboys selected Prescott as the 135th pick in the 4th round of the NFL Draft.
He had grown up a lifelong Cowboys fan. Since then, Prescott has emerged as one of the league's top-tier QBs. He's a 4-time Pro Bowler, led the NFL in completions in 2025, and is the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient.
Last weekend, Prescott completed 26 out of 31 pass attempts for 4 touchdowns and 279 passing yards.
