Dak Prescott understands why Dallas Cowboys fans might already be frustrated with their team. He just isn't interested in hearing about it after one game.

Following Dallas' disappointing 28-20 loss to the New York Giants, Prescott was asked what he would tell fans worried that 2026 could become more of the same after two consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance.

“I mean, it’s a long season. I love our fans, but I don’t necessarily feel like I need to speak to that fan. Sorry for them. If they’re a real fan, they’ll stick with it. They’ll trust it. They’ll believe in it. And at the end of the day, it is one game. Yeah, it sucks, it’s the first game.

“Nobody’s more pissed than myself and these guys in here. We didn’t want to start 0-1. We’re as excited as any fan out there about the offseason and things we’ve done in the training camp. So, turn that energy and come to the game this Sunday and be as loud as you can. We appreciate it.”

The Cowboys entered the season with enormous expectations for an offense featuring Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams, but that group didn't look nearly as explosive as anticipated against New York. But Dallas now gets an immediate opportunity to change the conversation against the Washington Commanders.

Pickens especially had a frustrating Cowboys season opener, catching three passes for only 28 yards while dropping two. One came with Pickens running behind the defense late in the first half and could have completely changed the complexion of the game. Prescott wasn't perfect either, finishing with 175 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

One loss obviously doesn't define an entire season. But another divisional loss would make Dallas' slow start considerably more concerning.
