Dak Prescott is on the brink of making franchise history ahead of the Dallas Cowboys‘ Week 2 matchup this season. Despite this, he remains humble with his overall objective.

Prescott started the 11th year of his NFL career with the Cowboys. He shines as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, hoping to lead Dallas to serious playoff contention this season.

Prescott has set multiple records throughout his time with the franchise. There is another one on the horizon, needing him to get four passing touchdowns to become the all-time leader in touchdown passes. While noting the significance of this feat, the star quarterback kept things in perspective as he knows he has a lot in the tank to use.

“Blessed, humbled, thankful to have the opportunity to do so. This game has meant so, so much to me. It’s always been, since as long as I can remember, peace. Getting out there and just playing this game has given me peace and a level of excitement and joy that it’s hard to even put into words,” Prescott said, per reporter Jon Machota.

“And to now put myself in that category, it’s humbling, but I expect to play for a long time. And in my mind, I’m just getting started. I’ve said it before, I think records are meant to be broken when you’re playing long enough and that’s just this opportunity for me to do this.”

What lies ahead for Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Dak Prescott knows he is closing in on memorable franchise history. The Cowboys greatly value him, understanding his impact to the organization.

Prescott has racked up 245 touchdown passes throughout his career with the Cowboys so far. He only trails franchise legend Tony Romo, who threw for 248 touchdowns during his Dallas stint from 2004 to 2016.

The Cowboys will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the Washington Commanders in Week 2 as kickoff commences on Sept. 20 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
