With Cristiano Ronaldo no longer playing in the UEFA Champions League, his records are now slowly getting closer to being broken. At 41 years old, Ronaldo is currently playing in Saudi Arabia and captaining Al-Nassr. Whereas, in Europe's top club league, the UEFA Champions League, England captain and Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is very close to surpassing one of Ronaldo's long-held UCL records.
Harry Kane recently scored as Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Arsenal, extending his Champions League scoring run to 10 consecutive matches. The former Spurs player is now just one game away from equalling Ronaldo's competition record of 11 successive matches with a goal. Ronaldo had set the record with Real Madrid during his glorious run between 2017 and 2018.
Kane's penalty in the second half against Arsenal increased his Champions League total to 58 goals, surpassing former Bayern teammate Thomas Muller and placing him eighth on the all-time list. Ronaldo currently tops the list with 141 goals, while Lionel Messi comes in second with 129 goals, followed by Robert Lewandowski's 109 goals and Karim Benzema's 90 goals.
It also marked Kane's 156th goal in 158 appearances for Bayern since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023. Kane has now scored 16 times against Arsenal, making them his joint-second most frequent opponents alongside Everton.
After top-scoring in Germany's Bundesliga last season and delivering an exceptional performance, Kane is also one of the favorites to win this year's Ballon d'Or ceremony in his hometown of London, UK. However, as of now, there are no confirmed updates about his victory, as the list also consists of other favorites such as Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, and more.
