It's always difficult to lose a game in the postseason. It's even more heartbreaking to lose a game that the team was on the brink of winning. On Sunday, the San Diego Padres lost the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, with Mason Miller allowing a two-run walk-off single to Jackson Chourio to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 win in Game 2 of the NLDS to give Milwaukee a 2-0 lead in the series.

Suffice to say, momentum is squarely in the Brewers' side even though the series is shifting to Petco Park in San Diego. Some even think that the Brewers' comeback win in Game 2 is basically the nail in the coffin of the Padres' season.

But for Padres manager Craig Stammen, he is banking on the Padres' rowdy fan base to give the Brewers hell as they try to come back from the series with their backs against the wall.

“We can defend our home field. And then hopefully have a chance for a return trip back to Milwaukee,” Stammen said, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.

Alas, this Brewers team won 103 games in the regular season for a reason. They're not just gonna let everything slip away. But the Padres know that they can rise to the occasion. After all, they lost the first two games of the series by a combined two runs. They just need a few more things to go their way and they could be back in the series before we know it.

“It's a big challenge. They're a great team. You saw how hard they battled us here in Milwaukee. But we like where we are when we play at home,” Stammen added.

The Padres recorded 51 of their 91 victories during the regular season at home, so they are indeed a different team at Petco Park. And as long as the Brewers haven't won three games yet in the NLDS, San Diego still has a chance. Whatever sliver of hope they can derive out of an otherwise bleak situation is what they should hold on to as they take it one game at a time, starting on Tuesday at 9:30 PM E.T for Game 3.
