The Dallas Cowboys are happy about their new acquisition. That’s especially true of the defensive coordinator. And the Cowboys may have taken advantage of the Steelers’ weakness, refusing to give up a first-round pick for Joey Porter Jr., according to a post on X by Jeremy Fowler.

The Cowboys already pretty much embarrassed the Steelers with the George Pickens trade, getting one of the NFL’s better receivers for a third-round pick. Now they’re trying to do the same with Porter.
What will CB Joey Porter Jr. bring to the Cowboys?
He certainly has the approval of DC Christian Parker, according to a post on X by Jon Machota.
“Cowboys DC Christian Parker on CB Joey Porter Jr.: ‘He certainly fits what we do and how we want to play. When you have opportunities, and I get asked about guys like that, it’s usually a yes. I’m always trying to add more good players.’ ”
Article Continues BelowThe Cowboys had struggled in pass defense over the first three weeks. They’re hopeful that Porter will boost that part of the defense.
Porter seems happy to be headed to the Cowboys, according to a post on X by Ari Meirov via Bleacher Report.
“It was a hard process, a lot of ups and downs,” Porter said. “Definitely felt disrespected. Definitely felt undervalued. But that's old news now. That's how I look at it. I'm on to new beginnings, new chapters.”
He said the Cowboys seem to respect him more.
“It was the value,” Porter said. “I didn't feel like it was really that over there,” Porter told reporters. “[Dallas] is showing me that they value me more over here. That's really all I need to show what I can do.”
