After failing to Baltimore Ravens, the Dallas Cowboys will enter Week 4 against the Houston Texans, dealing with an increasing number of injuries. Cornerback Cobie Durant will be one of the notable absences. Unfortunately for Dallas, head coach Brian Schottenheimer does not appear confident about the starting cornerback’s availability for the upcoming game.

Dallas Cowboys beat reporter Joseph Hoyt reported that Schottenheimer said that Durant “probably won’t be ready” to play against the Texans this Sunday. Hoyt also revealed that the Cowboys worked out several players on Tuesday and could potentially sign some of them as the team looks to add more depth to its secondary.

Durant suffered a hamstring injury during the Cowboys’ Week 2 victory over the Washington Commanders. The injury happened as he attempted to defend Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the end zone.

Durant had already gone to the ground and landed flat on his chest after the play. The situation worsened as the Cowboys' safety Markquese Bell accidentally stepped on Durant’s butt and groin area because he didn’t notice him on the ground.

Following the injury, Schottenheimer indicated that Durant was expected to miss multiple weeks while recovering. The cornerback has not returned to practice since sustaining the injury and was eventually ruled out for the Cowboys’ Week 3 matchup.

Before being sidelined, Durant registered two solo tackles and one forced fumble during his first two appearances in a Cowboys uniform.

Before joining the Cowboys, Durant spent his first four NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he developed into a versatile cornerback capable of contributing in different roles. He later signed with Dallas on a one-year, $4 million contract.
