The Dallas Cowboys fell flat on their faces after bowing to the New York Giants, 28-20, in Week 1. Many predicted the Cowboys would win, given the offseason hype surrounding them, particularly regarding their supposedly improved defense.

But alas, they failed to get the job done.

However, while coach Brian Schottenheimer should be concerned about several things, the subpar play of wide receiver George Pickens is not one of them, as reported by The Athletic's Jon Machota.

“I don't say anything to George. George will be just fine. He's going to usually catch that ball going down the sideline, probably pull through it, then jump over people, spin, and then jump into the end zone. So I don't worry about George,” said Schottenheimer.

Pickens had three receptions on six targets for 28 yards against the Giants.

The 25-year-old star had a breakout campaign last season, tallying 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns—all career-highs. He was named to the All-Pro Team and the Pro Bowl for the first time.

Many expected Pickens to pick up right where he left off and be a premier weapon in Week 1, but he struggled to get touches against the physical defense of New York.

But as Schottenheimer pointed out right after their loss, they were “pretty poor” as a team, as reported by the Associated Press.

“That's certainly not our standard. We certainly didn't come out of the gate fast enough on either side of the ball. This is a humbling business, and we got humbled,” said the second-year coach.

Pickens will be eager to spin and jump into the end zone against the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
