The Washington Commanders will be facing the New York Giants in Week 5, and they could be getting back their star player. Jayden Daniels has been working to get back on the field after suffering an elbow injury a few weeks ago, and there seems to be optimism surrounding his return.
Though there is optimism, there seems to be only one way that Daniels returns to the field, and it starts with practice, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
“The outlook for the Commanders' Jayden Daniels potentially playing this week against the Giants is positive. The key, I'm told, is having him in practice in full. Limited participation likely won't be enough. If he's a full go in practice by, say, Friday, he'll get the green light,” Fowler wrote.
That's good news for the Commanders, especially with them dealing with another injury at quarterback this past week. Marcus Mariota injured the medial collateral ligament in his right knee against the Indianapolis Colts and didn't play in the second half of the game.
Athan Kaliakmanis replaced him, and he completed 15 of 33 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and an interception. The Commanders probably don't want to roll out their QB3 for another week, so Daniels having some full practices will be important.
Article Continues BelowIt's been an injury-riddled start to the season for the Commanders, which is what happened to them last season. Daniels was injured twice last season, and it forced him to miss a lot of time. He's already missed a few games this season, but it looks like he'll be back soon, which is good news.
The Commanders need to find some life on offense, and Daniels will be able to do that with his dual-threat ability. All eyes will be on him this week to see how he fares in practice.
