Colorado head coach Deion Sanders shook the college football world when he announced that some members of Colorado's roster were no longer on the team. This comes after Colorado's loss to Northwestern, following a viral video in which several Colorado players made negative remarks about Northwestern's temporary arena. In the video player, said things such as “This place f*cking sucks” and “Sh*t sounds like a f*cking library.”
Sanders spoke about the dismissals, saying, “It's never one [thing]. I'm one the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don't care about the team, you care about you, I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn't put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded. I'm not doing that anymore.”
However, Colorado released a statement, according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3, saying that the roster changes have not been finalized.
“Any potential roster changes have not been finalized. An updated roster will be released later in the week.”
Article Continues BelowSanders expressed frustration with his team following the loss for allegedly laughing following the 41-7 blowout decision.
“I don't understand how in the world you can find joy, or you can find a laughing matter when I'm right behind you walking [into the locker room],” Sanders said Saturday. “I don't understand that, and I addressed it, and I'm going to put my foot in it, not on it.”
Defensive back Ben Finneseth issued an apology for his comments, as he was one of the players that spoke about the Northwestern venue.
“Yeah, no, I just want to apologize to you guys, everyone that's tied in with the university, everyone at Northwestern, everyone that supports us, my teammates, my coaches. It was childish. It was a stupid thing that I said. It won't happen again, and the way I handled it was horrible. I promise you guys that it will not happen again, and it will be much more mature moving forward. I apologize.”
