The Colorado football team is struggling during the 2026 season. Colorado has dropped four games in a row, and the pressure is building on embattled head coach Deion Sanders. Sanders is getting issued a warning by college football insider Bruce Feldman.

“They’ll likely be an underdog in every game the rest of the way. Maybe they’ll be a favorite in the season finale when UCF visits. It’s getting harder to see a path for things feeling like they did in 2024. New AD Fernando Lovo isn’t the guy who hired Deion or gave him the five-year, $54 million deal in 2025. Things could get very awkward in Boulder,” Feldman wrote for The Athletic.

Sanders is in his fourth season in Colorado. He has just one conference win since the start of the 2025 campaign. Sanders has also posted two losing seasons in his first three years.

The Colorado head coach has a pretty large buyout. It is about $26 million at the present time, On3 has reported. That buyout may not be enough to save Sanders' job, if Colorado keeps losing.

Sanders has been getting plenty of advice from analysts as the season rolls along. Former NFL star Shannon Sharpe has directed Sanders to change his approach to recruiting. Colorado has had plenty of blue chip recruits since Sanders came to Boulder, but the team hasn't been able to win games.

“After getting off to a nice start with an upset win at Georgia Tech, they were embarrassed at Northwestern and looked lost the next few games before putting a scare into then-No. 11 Utah last week, ultimately losing 27-24,” Feldman wrote.

The Buffaloes are currently 2-4 on the campaign. Colorado next takes on Oklahoma State on Saturday.
