The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and first-year coach Ryan Beard are not having the best season. Beard's team came into Friday's game against Appalachian State at just 2-4. However, spirits were high after a big 27-21 win over Marshall the previous week.

There was also another reason to get excited about the App State game debut, and that's because it was the debut of the Chanticleers' awesome 90s-inspired uniforms.

The designer of the jersey clearly nailed the assignment with this beauty. From the graffiti font for “Coastal” to the teal, pink, and neon green colors and confetti, it was giving “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and other 90s television show vibes in the best way possible.

Unfortunately, though, the Chanticleers couldn't quite pull off the awesome performance to match the awesome jerseys as they fell 35-32 to App State. It was looking good for a while when Coastal went up 24-14 heading into halftime. But they simply couldn't handle Jaquari Lewis. The running back was the star of the show as he racked up four touchdowns and inspired their comeback, which likely made Mountaineers super fan Luke Combs happy.

Credit the Chanticleers for giving them a good fight, though. Quarterback Deuce Bailey struggled with accuracy but still finished with 298 passing yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, wideout Robby Washington showed out with a season-high 118 yards and a touchdown.

It remains to be seen if and when Coastal Carolina's 90s jerseys will make their return this season. Until then, the Chanticleers will be focusing on returning to the win column, starting with their visit to Georgia State after their bye week.
