With kicker Harrison Butker struggling so far in 2026, the Kansas City Chiefs are adding some help.

In the form of Justin Tucker.

Butker has converted just 11-of-16 field goal attempts this season, and was 1-for-3 last Sunday night in Kansas City’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Butker missed a 58-yard field goal try as time expired in the first half, and he missed wide right on a 45-yard try early in the fourth quarter.

Since the start of last year, Butker has missed 15 of his kicking attempts.

Now the team has signed Tucker to the practice squad. The former Baltimore Ravens kicker has not played in an NFL game since the 2024 campaign. He was suspended ten games by the league following a report from the Baltimore Banner alleging a pattern of sexual misconduct with Baltimore-area massage therapists. While Tucker denied the allegations and called them categorically false, the league suspended the kicker for ten games under the Personal Conduct Policy.

He was released by the Ravens and served the suspension, becoming eligible for reinstatement in November of last year.

According to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, Kansas City worked out several kickers on Tuesday including Tucker, who went 30-of-30 during the workout.

For now, Butker remains on the active roster in Kansas City, but the door is now very much open for his replacement with the Chiefs.

And Tucker is eligible to kick Sunday if necessary.
