The Kansas City Chiefs enjoyed a bye week this weekend amid their hot start to the 2026 NFL season. The Chiefs currently sit at 4-0 on the year, well on their way to bouncing back after missing the playoffs altogether last season.
The Chiefs have played the opening chunk of this season without starting offensive lineman Josh Simmons, who has been out with a back injury.
However, on Wednesday, the team got a positive update on his status moving forward, as he was back at practice for the first time in months.
“We're just going to ease him back in,” said head coach Andy Reid, per Nate Taylor of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
However, it wasn't all good news on the injury front for the Chiefs on Wednesday.
“Rashee Rice will not practice today,” reported McDowell of the Kansas City Star on X.
Rice injured his hamstring in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and the bye week came at a good time for Kansas City, giving the star some time to heal up, although he clearly still isn't quite ready to get back on the field.

Getting Simmons back in the coming weeks should only help continue to improve that unit.
In any case, the Chiefs will next hit the field on Sunday afternoon at home against the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
