As the Las Vegas Aces lost in Game 3 to the Golden State Valkyries, 87-77, the reigning champions have been eliminated from the playoffs as superstar A'ja Wilson and the rest of the team will regroup in the offseason for next season. It was another superb season for Wilson after the Aces star won her fifth MVP award, as teammate Chelsea Gray had an emotional response when talking about the 30-year-old.

Speaking after the disappointing loss, the 34-year-old guard would be asked about Wilson this season, expressing how she has been “legendary” this season. Winning her fifth MVP, Wilson averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from three-point range this season.

“I get to play with the best every single day, and it's the player, and it's the person,” Gray said after she recorded 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists in Friday's loss. “We have our own dynamic relationship that's…It's like playful, it's honest, it's raw, it's having each other's back, and I'm super proud of what she's been able to do.”

"Legendary. I get to play with the best every single day… I'm super proud of what she's been able to do. MVP, man… She can hoop yall"

In the Game 3 loss to Golden State, Wilson would score 21 points on six of 19 shooting from the field, one of four from deep, and made eight of 11 from the free-throw line to go along with 10 rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and an assist. Subsequently, Gray would candidly go into how she feels about Wilson and how the team “demands a lot” from her.

“She's great, she's our leader,” Gray said. “She expects a lot of herself on both ends of the floor. And when you're in the conversation to be MVP, to be defensive player of the year every single year, you're getting everybody's best shot. She's doing things that haven't been heard of, and she's doing it her way, unapologetically herself as a strong Black woman. And I just I really appreciate that and being around that constantly.”

At any rate, Wilson, Gray, and Las Vegas look to prepare for next season and hope to once again be in title contention.
