Despite his tough-talking personality, Charles Barkley has shown a softer side, particularly when it comes to the people he cares about. However, that doesn't mean he's always patient with young fans on Halloween.

During a recent appearance on NBA Tip-Off, the Basketball Hall of Famer shared a hilarious story about children showing up at his house on Halloween with more than candy on their minds. Instead of simply enjoying the treats, some youngsters arrived carrying basketball cards, hoping to get Barkley's signature.

"I wanted to punch him in the face but I couldn't do it."

The unexpected requests apparently tested his patience, prompting a blunt reaction that left his fellow analysts laughing.

Barkley recalled telling the young visitors to stop bringing basketball cards to his doorstep. While he was happy to give them free candy, he did not want Halloween to turn into an autograph session.

The former NBA star even admitted that one particular interaction made him so frustrated that he wanted to punch a child. However, he quickly clarified that he would never actually hurt a kid.

“I'm not gonna be mean to kids, but stop bringing them damn cards on Halloween,” Barkley said.

Ernie Johnson, who recently announced that he will step away from Inside the NBA after the 2026-27 season, suggested that the children were likely following their parents' instructions to get Barkley's autograph.

When Johnson asked how many signatures Barkley had given out that night, the 11-time All-Star revealed that he had signed approximately 25 autographs.

Despite his colorful choice of words, Barkley's story showed that he was still willing to accommodate young fans. He simply wanted them to enjoy Halloween for what it was: a night for free candy, not collecting autographs.
