The Los Angeles Chargers feature roster concerns amid their 0-6 start to the 2026 NFL season. Now coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff must find a new safety. All thanks to a brutal Derwin James update on the NFL injury front.

The All-Pro defender has hit a roadblock with his recovery, per Harbaugh. He might have to go on injured reserve as his hamstring isn't fully healed.

James has suited up in just three games for the winless Bolts, hitting 12 solo tackles. James has totaled 21 tackles across the three contests he's been healthy for but has broken up one pass only.

But nothing has looked healthy for the Chargers. James is among the litany of injuries on the Bolts. Star wide receiver Ladd McConkey didn't practice on Monday as he recovers from a concussion. Fellow wideout Brennen Thompson also is dealing with an injury, with his quadriceps as the issue.

However, Tre Harris looks ready to come back from his hamstring injury. Which can become a huge boost for struggling quarterback Justin Herbert, who has thrown more interceptions at eight compared to touchdown passes with five.

But the Chargers, again, face potential roster tinkering ahead of the league's trade deadline. Herbert has risen as a possible trending trade contender, especially with the Seattle Seahawks becoming linked as a possibility there.

Los Angeles heads back to SoFi Stadium but this time will come out of the visitors locker room. That's because they're the away team when they take on the Rams on Sunday.
